This is nice industrial music collage, extremely not appriopraite to the label of reviews (Heavy!Heavy!Loud1) but still, it's an engaging piece of music anyway. There is one nice guitar riff around 6'00'', but it's more electronic industrial than any king of loud guitar stuff.

surprisingly good
This is a really nice electronica/rock mixture, evoking the best years of Stabbin' Westward or Nitzer Ebb. There are few nice samples, great heavy drums, a crushing bass and a neat composition. The only drawbacks are a bit unprofessional production and too quiet vocals. It needs to be done once more, but overall impression is more than positive.

It is both engaging and disturbing sound collage, taking it all back to the days of glory of SPK or Psychic TV. The production is pretty neat and arrangements are deminic, so one must like it, if one like this particular genre, of course. The mood is pretty depressive and abstract, but basically... That's the point.

Interesting
This is yet another industrial sound collage I stumbled upon, and it is indeed interesting. The timing in sequencing is quite well synchronized, and although this is a bit experimental it's not boring. I loved the end of it, with a children song. That was pretty catchy. The whole tune sounds like some PTV or SPK trip, and I must say it's quite enjoyable.

The Phantom Carriage – Skull exposed to March rain

This is quite an extra ordinary release. I do like the way it was edited – with four pages of extra artwork and very decent cover it is a thing that invites you warmly to listen to. The music itself is also a bit out-of-there. There are nice, lyrical ambient, spoken word voyages, overlaps with the folk songs reminding me of Bonnie Prince Billy. It’s hard to put the album into a genre, but I suppose that’s the way the beauty of it comes. Personally, I prefer the folk ones ober the electronica, so I will distinguish a cappella Blood, and a very sentimental Hawthorn Tree, however one cannot neglect the rest, especially a nine-minutes long Folly, very much in Philip Glass/David Bowie collaboration style with a country guitar twist or extremely psychedelic Three Wishes. Well... electronica covers most of the album, with its end being a very M83 Skull exposed to March rain. It is skillful and neatly produced, but I’ll wait for the whole folk The Phantom Carriage album – really, they can’t be wromg there.

There is something poppy about it
Which is not bad. I didn;t like cursing in the chorus, it spoils lyrics and an overall mood of the song. It is a song - it's melodical, vocals are good and it has a nice choir in the chorus, there is a bridge, decent verses, everything. It definitely got it, but the production is a bit amateurish, a thing that spoils an overall impression to a large extent.

It does rock
Good keyboard sound, rich arrangement, simple, but powerful and catchy guitar riff, a sensible composition including - I'm surprised myself that I dig the track so much. It is created by an evergreen NIN or even MM formula, but it does engage a listener. Distorted vocals annoy a bit here, but if a skillful producer worked on it, we would have something really industrial instead of Cher like vocals (it's just for some seconds, but still it spoils a mood). Regardless of these little drawbacks, the composition impresses as a really recommendable thing.

Lord Numb – Comfortably Numb EP

Now, that’s an EP to cherish! I did like all the tracks there, beginning from extremely New Order like A question mark for a face through even more similar Stackridge and experimentally ambiental A song for the numb to electro clashing Webcore, webcore. The whole album has a great dose of self-consciousness musical irony, a quite professional production and catchy riffs (unfortunately, it’s quite minimal, so no melodies). The only drawback I sense here is lack of vocals. I think lyrics and a good singer would give compositions a more complicated texture and greatly enhance the overall quality. By this only my humble opinion, of course. Also, the cover being nice and not hideous, taking under consideration the growing standards of netlabel design it is somewhat cliche. My overall impression, however is more than positive.
BTW – the album is released under the banner of dedpop, a very interesting, rock-folk-indie oriented netlabel worth checking out. I think in the nearest future I will report more both on Lord and the netlabel.

This one has a lot of rock energy in it. I miss the samples in arrangements, a staple thing for an industrial band in my opinion. The band sounds like industrial-metal bands, basically it's like Ministry rehearsal, not exceptional, but not phony either.

Grammar – EP

This one is a nice piece of experimental electronica, that I stumbled upon while I was checking 49manekinow net label. EP consists of six, rather short (3 minutes, 4 the longest) compositions in Autechre and generally warp records based style. My favourite tune here is Jnry Crush, which very neatly combines abstract samples with composition and Offsediment, when the breaking really takes place. Everything is quite nice and decent about this record, and if one likes that genre he will enjoy this EP. The shame about distributing it is that you got the record cover only after downloading the whole, so visual guys may simply ignore the release and the net-label as well. Apart from that it is a recommendable album, truly a chalenging, but rewarding thing to listen to.

Piano gently begins its melody. The beat is trip-hop, and the girl's voice is just sweet as honey. The melody gently flows, taking the listener into moody but catchy piece of very neatly produced music. It's quite useless to speak about what's hot and what's not in this piece, because it's almost perfect. I loved the lead vocals - the singer definitely has a big talent. She doesn't have to sing in all pitches to create the atmosphere - and that counts a lot. All the samples, keyboards and the beat are also very professionally produced. A composition is also interesting. There are two breaks (1:10 I believe, and a similar one around 1:55) than creates a dramaturgy of the record. Overall it's a strong proposal for an underground hit. I like more darker side of trip-hop (if you know Tricky records than you know what I mean), but that track is also undoubtedly recommendable.

Well.. That's engaging
How do you sound like? You do sound like NIN or some lighter side of KMFDM but it's still intersting and quite engaging. There's a nice balance between manic Trent-like vocals and hypnotic samples. I liked electronic drums to. The tune is just right - not too long, not too complicated. Right there - an industrial electronic composition at its best.

A psychotic piece
I loved it!!! This is a Tarantino soundtrack piece-like tune. Just kidding! It's more like Jodorovsky one! You're lucky because I do enjoy such out-of-head stuff.It's long, it's 12minutes-long and it's more, just as I said, more a out-of-space, Residents-like soundscape than a regular track. Well... It's a regular track in PsychicTV terms ;-). Generally, a recommendable tune. For psychotics. I nominate that song for A best tune suited to an elevator.

Tom Woxon – Kickstart

Now, that’s something! I have stumbled recently at this netlabel Da!Heard It Records and I decided to sample one of their menu at random. I knew there would be some breakcore, 8-bit stuff going on there, but I didn’t know that it would be That 8-bit. Kickstart is a great tribute to a world of commodore/amiga scene, nad it was truly extremely enjoyable to go through the tracks. Tom Woxon’s album is not a simple reconstruction of the sound of those great machines of the 80’s, but more an impression of it. House vocal samples weren’t in use at this time as I recall, I suppose not many people knew about house music in the first place, so those rich vocals that dwells Sofachips or Kickstart tunes are just a sort of interpretation, though it is quite nice and accurate. As much as I liked those, I simply loved those who are more similar to the imaginary amiga games soundtracks such as Casio Dream or Amiga Bass. Overall, this a great LP, very engaging though it has got 14 tracks. It is a definitely recommendable production and I’m looking forward to check something else from this netlabel.

Well... It’s truly not easy to fall asleep to this record, because this is both disturbing and engaging album. What we got here it’s a piece of really professionally-made dark experimental ambient. It is not noise for a noise sake however, but a deep and profound exploration of the sound sphere by the artist. Some of the tunes are simply beatiful. Sorry... I know this is the corniest thing to say, but there’s no other adjective for tunes such as wilderness of the city to describe this utterly touching soundscape. Great, haunting radiohead-like vocal samples connected with the sentimental mood of cello (I suppose it’s cello) and background repetitive ambient makes the composition a five-minute of sheer delight to anyone that enjoys the genre. I think that every piece here deserves attention, beginning from restless intro (when someone loves you no more) through the tracks such as emporia (Brian Eno clashes Twin Peaks red-room) or minimalistic kontakt. Generally, it is next release from Resting Bell worth recommending. Berlin still takes it all my friends.

This is a piece of really nice ebm here. One knows that the sound and production are extremely important on this genre, and I can feel that Silent Assassin undestands that very well. Although it’s a classical one man band that has its base mnainly on electronic sound and not live instruments, it does not hinder the compositions in any way. Of course, they are not extremely abundant and multi-layered, I would best described that as a minimal electronic ebm, but still it creates very engaging mood and leaves us wanting to listen to the album once again. It’s hard to say, which ones are my favourites here, because every track has something interesting in it, but if I have to, I would point out German Woods, where the story is told with a great, very atmospheric background (too bad, I cannot understand – don’t know German any bit), and MindInc, which reminds me of some dark ambient Aphex Twin trips. The only remark I have it’s that tunes resemble eachother too much, for example beat in GermanWoods and C’est is almost identical. Taking this aside however, TurnOffTheRadio is really a thing to listen to, and I would love to see this performed in a live act. Also the cover, with its early-industrial style is a good cue and a completion to the whole.

Lexithimie – Leontopodium

One of the most intriguing releases from one of the most intriguing net-labels I’ve come across while surfing. Leontopodium is just (well... not exactly just) two tracks, but both of them present a unique and extremely intersting journey through the mistierium of sound. Leontopodium discolor and Leontopodium alpinum takes us where Brian Eno took us in the past and Fennesz takes us nowadays. The album is a solid piece of ambient work, surprisingly engaging taking under consideration that tracks take respectively eight and over a quarter. It must be said and this is a gem in a genre, bevause of its very swift and neat production. It is a record one really wants to come back, especially when you need a time to chill-out or interally explore yourself.
I made some searching at the Resting Bell, as for what I heard I think I’ll report on some other releases from there, because it’s really one of the most professional and efficiently genre-targeted netlabel I’ve found at the net so far. Everything there is worked out, from the covers till players and download avaibility. Well done!

An experimental trip
This tune may sound annoying for some people, because it is experimental and unapproachable to some extent. Vocals may really get on ones nerves but it's meant to be that way, I suppose. Because of that I didn't get lyrics - a large drawback. I liked the keyboards and sequencing though. Overall, it's a nice tune, but it's bit too short (2'32''), so I won't get into details, because there aren't too many.

Underproduced
It's really hard to decide here. The riff is really catchy and NIN-like, but the rest is more metal (I mean vocals and rhythm section) than industrial. There are one or two samples, but it doesn't necessary make a tune industrial. However, an overall impression is very positive. The song is catchy, with a THIS IS IOT howl and composition is swift, but it's simply underproduced. If recorded in better studio, would be hit.

Pequeña Fiera! - Secrets with no words

Once again, this one’s from Error!Lo-Fi Records (Spain.). Pequeña Fiera! is a band that explores the border between lo-fi (really ;-) and experimental/art rock (vide Radiohead, Sigur Ros, etc.). What we got on Secrets with no words are 5 very dreamy and hazy tunes, that takes us somewhere very much behind the rainbow. If the band thought about the compositions a little bit thoroughly than it would definitely be a minor underground hit-band. It is still above average, because Pequeña Fiera! Is not afraid to try something new (ok, we’ve heard this dream pop/post rock thing before, but still it’s not that everyone plays that way). My favourite track here is do re mi fa sol I kiss you, very chilled-out track with my vocals and slacky/lazy melody strolling through out. Generally, it is a band and an album to recommend, and I would gladly check out what more do they have in stock.

Is a nice piece of something that reminds me of some Deutche Neue Harte demo track. It's hard, it's rythmical and undoubtedly industrial. Lyrics are crude, but that's the way it should be and production is a bit garage, but it only makes the mood more grime. Lead vocals do recollect Rammstein singer and the composition is well sequenced. Overall, it's a good track. Keep up with jobs well done.

Nice hardcore
I would truly recommend this tune. It reminds the good, old experimental hardcore stuff from Alternative Tentacles Rec. and so on. It's much more sophisticated that the usual hc stuff, but still it has this energy and power one looks for. I would work on the vocals a bit (I think more about the production than the singing), but overall it is an interesting composition.

The Shambolics - First: I Kill You. Then: I Steal Your Power

It's raw, it's garage-like, it'S The Shambolics. Those crazy punk-blues kiwi's from postmoderncore net label it's one of the most surprising things I've recently come over CC. First: I Kill You. Then: I Steal Your Power it's just 4 tracks, roughly 12 minutes of music, but still it's so dirty and in-your-face that I do recommend it to every indie-fan out there. My favourites there is instrumental Petrol, and Bad Man/Bad Girl - a modern crazy ride in a Jon Spencer's Blues Explosion style. Number 2 at the record, Stoopid Bitches may be little bit off-putting because of a sexiest title, but nonetheless it's nice tihs to listen to.

Lágrima - Trayecto Imperfecto de un Viaje Inacabado

This is the first of the records from Error!Lo-Fi Recording, a very interesting net-label that I recommend here, that's why the score is maybe a bit excessive. Lagrima plays interesting and engaging instrumental lo-fi and although there is a certain that-composition-is-so-similar and I-have-heard-it-before syndroms, it's still a recommendable release. Becasue of the first thing mentioned above, I won't say which track on the Trayecto Imperfecto de un Viaje Inacabado is the best, and because of the second syndrome, I won't say which bands too much influenced this project ;-).
Summarizing, check it out; if you like lo-fi/postrock vibes, this is your record. If not, well... Too bad.

Light In Your Life – light in your life

That’s the nice record, one that sticks with you from the first chords to the end of the album. The content is basically, a guitar-based, new/dark wave melancholic songs. It reminds me of an early Radiohead (the intro in It Would Be Fine for that instance), Editors (just listen to the vocalist style in Smile That Smile), the Smiths (their hypnotic mode - Christian), Interpol (the riff in Psych) or even Arcade Fire (an extremely catchy and in the same way obscure and melancholic guitar work in Emily Scott). Ok... Even with the comparison, because in a way it is degrading for the band. I think that Light In Your Life has its own style, and it seems that if they play their cards right and put a bit of diversity into their arrangement, there is definitely future ahead of them. As for now, I give 8 out of 10, because the cover is a bit amaterish.

This tune has everything I expect from a solid industrial tune. It has good electronic sample (reminding me of early Nine Inch Nails or Nitzer Ebb), the vocal is very much in industrial style - dark and emotional preaching ;-) Rhythm is professional and has good sound, there are nice breaks of it (1'23'') and the chorus is quite catchy. Summarizing, it's two thumbs up!

Josh Woodward – Breadcrumbs

This Josh’s release is one of his finest – very much keeping up with the style and efficiency of Not Quite Connected and Dirty Wings. The mood on Breadcrumbs is very switfly balanced between folk/americana melancholy and more alternative (maybe even a bit, but really, just a bit experimental) energetic moments. I suppose people that enjoyed earlier albums from this artist would love most of the tracks here, but my top three favourites are: Overthrown wioth a beginning very much similar to Kings Of Leon compositions (that would be something, Josh Woodward in a KOL style), but later on going into this familiar Josh’s soft storytelling, and two last pieces: Ghosts with a really great, dark atmosphere and one of the best guitarwork from this musician and I’m not Dreaming which is in fact a zenith of Woodward’s melancholy. If the whole LP were that way songs mentioned above, it would be definitely a top jamendo album. Now, it’s nine out of ten for me, and I’m still waiting for this Josh Woodward definite record.

Worth recommending
This track is a real nice mix of thrash-metal and a bit of hard-core ovcals. The track is engagin,g though it lasts for almost five minutes and a half! The sound is a bit poor, but I suppose not everyone can afford really professional recording studio, plus the mood is more garage thanks to that ;-). Guitar riff is really old-school in a positive sense, it reminds me of some Slayer songs. There are also nice speech samples at te beginning at the track, which makes composition more interesting. In summary, two thumbs up.

Diablo Swing Orchestra – Butcher’s Ballroom

This is definitely an album to recommend. Diablo’s mixture of classic, heavy-metal, swing and whatever comes handy is an extraordinary thing even for such a boiling place as jamendo releases. Butcher’s Ballroom is an almost hour of really professionally produced and skillfully performed music. I feel Mike Patton’s strong influence here, but in my case, it’s more an advantage than a vice. All of the songs are worth mentioning, but my favourite is D’Angelo - a short tune in an almost opra mode. I also loved Rag Doll Physics chorus and extremely energetic Infralove. Every little aspect of the record, beginning from the sound, through the composition and lyrics is very much close to perfection, so do not hesistate to get accustomed with this amazing journey Diablo Swing Orchestra invites you to.

Strangely enjoyable
The beginning isn't much - just a motoric, almost obssessive sample, and it doesn't change much through the whole tune!!!The samples differs, one replaces the other or they overlap eachother, and it may sound boring the way I write it, but really, it isn't. It's nice and engaging though it's home-made and minimalistic.

CIRC – Anatole Joy

I do enjoy the latest CIRC release, because it’s a very neat example of an artist’s progress. His previous albums were very much in the same mode as Anatole Joy is (namely, an abstract electronica/melodic IDM clash), but more recent LP’s have richer production and much complex compositions. As for Anatole Joy, one may expect nice downtempo, a bit psychotic but also engaging instrumental trips. My favourite tunes on the record are abstract bizzoff with trance, drilling bass and lile it litl dat, where the rhythm section is very professional and the composition doesn’t bore a listener though the whole piece is generally based on the breakbeat treat. The biggest musical disappointment was angels needs pollution to breathe that strats up extremely nice, with great distorted human choir sample, but than keyboards and rhythm gets predictable and spoils all fun. It could a highlight of the material, but it simply fails to do it. The next remark I have is the cover. The donkey here is simply ridiculous and it spoils an overall positive impression.
Summarizing, it’s definitely a thing to check. A next step in the music history of the composer that can really achieve something in the future.

Hard and heavy
That's a nice track, however the second vocals there sound a bit ridiculous and the first vocal growling part it's not a growling at all. Apart from those drawbacks the tune is a very skillful hardcore/metal clash. It doesn't have to much of crossover rap, which is extremely annoying for me, but instead there are really engaging guitar riffs (though no great solo en route), energetic rhythm section and overall capacity to make head bang ;-). Mental Killing Spree – Vae Victis

I’ve got to tell you. That thing ain’t no blues ;-). Maybe I’m wrong, but I’ve got an impression that death metal bands avoid Creative Commons and focus more on the good old underground zine-net and gigs ways of promoting their music, so two thumbs up for Mental Killing Spree for bravery! About the music. There is a quite engaging mixture of a harder side of thrash and a lighter side of death metal here. Riffs aren’t extremely melodic (it’s not Metallica, and no Amon Amarth either), but they’re melodic enough to keep a listener interested. Even the longest composition on the record, Odd Pathos, avoids monothony though it is nearly 8 minutes. However, my favourite track here is twice shorter but as much engaging Desentized, a tune that reminds me of Suffocation or the early Slayer. The other composition are also worth checking, so don’t hesistate! Become a Mental Killing Spree victim! ;-)

P.s. My only annotation is about the length of the album. It should at least two tracks longer! However, as it is Mental Killing Spree first release I forgive and hope that the next one is much more packed.

Very Nine Inch Nails-like
I must say this tune it's a pretty enjoyable trip into the roots of industrial rock. Though it's raw and garage-sound I should like the trance-like guitar riff, the shoutings of the vocalist and hypnotic rhythm section. Oh... And I'm sorry but no oboe, trumpet or cello here. ;-)

It’s not what I’ve expected. The tag said it’s a experimental darkambient kind of music, so I wanted something more like Aphex Twin than Jarre Jr., but maybe I just lifted my expectations too high. The arrangements on Cycle are limited to keyboards, and that’s the first disappointment. What’s more, compositions are not really convincing, I mean, there is nothing very sophisticated there, and sounds lay in the sphere of the basic bank-sound of midi equipment. Even the ambient samples at the begining of Reve d’evolution are pretty pre-packaged and what happens next is a cheerful amateurship.
Generally, it’s not a thing to publish, just some sort of not exactly sound music experiment.

I must say I pretty enjoyed it. The vocals are really melodic and they somewhat reminds me more of Pixies than some industrial band, which is a nice surprise. The riff is engaging, though simple, but that;s the way a riff should be. Drum section and overall arrangement is also correct. A recommendable piece, that's for sure.

I must say this is one of the most engaging ambient records I’ve heard for a long time. There is undoubtedly a Kraftwerk-inspiration in this record, always a good recommendation for me. The mood is extremely ambiental (a stupid thing to say, but it is ;-), with a very professionally arranged sounds and samples, creating sentimental and cold (but not hostile) atmosphere that neatly corresponds with album’s title and an overall concept behind it. As the mood of the record is similar and each piece is a part of whole it’s quite difficult to single out the best composition here, but I pretty enjoyed female (are they female?) voive samples from Bernauer Strasse, and I was also pretty impressed by Nordbahnhof, which is eight-minutes long, but not for a second boring!
In summary, I love the whole record. The sound, the cover, the idea, everything. It’s 10 out of 10 for me. Maybe there are hundreds of similar ambient records out there, but I don’t there. I truly enjoy this one.

I liked the vocal and piano introduction (and outroduction ;-) to the song, and it sounded an old-school Dylan, Springsteen even acoustic way, so I must say, I pretty enjoyed it (even harmonica, which I don't particularly love). It’s a record you won’t play once. This is a good quality electronica with a funky vibe (sometimes too plastic for me, as if in the Francesco Malti), but other ways pretty danceable. It’s quite difficult to point out one definite hit from the album because every song is professionally crafted, but I liked the bass and the old school minimal-techno feeling of Don’t Stop and pretty the same in Rework. I didn’t hovewer like too soft-jazz atmosphere of Mood for December Rendered (just to much saxophone and other corny stuff, I’m afraid), though it may be only my humble opinion.
In general, it’s a record to remember and an artist to look for when he’ll release some other stuff. However, there are little drawbacks it doesn’t hinder a positive opinion I have about Back to the Source. I’d also listen to Tradmark’s live act as well. It could be some pleasure.
Overall, it’s an eight for me.

This tune, although it's just a piano, a vocal and bass it's a thing that one may remember. It's soft amd melodic, and has a chamber-pop atmosphere, a genre worth popularizing. I quite enjoyed a little bit underground production, which only makes the mood more alternative. Although it's only two minutes, a track is definitely one to check out.

I must say I enjoyed it
This tune is not a masterpeice but it's a quite pleasant tune to listen to. What strikes the most it's good, very modern sound. Drums are a little bit to mild, but the bass, samples and keyboard work just fine. The composition itself it's more EBM than industrial (lack of guitar riffs, for example) and the arrangement is so what poor (only electronic no live instruments) but it has nice, engaging atmosphere so overall the verdict must be positive.

Red Emprez – On the Leash

This record is quite interesting, though it’s not a masterpiece. Every song has good electro wave dark mood, but it’s so similar to others in the genre, that it’s quite hard to point out the highlight of the record (Broken Toy perhaps, but it’s an instrumental one). Two of the pieces annoyed me: Everyone’s Girlfriend – because of lyrics’ crudeness and Today, more or else for the same reason. Regardless of the negative things I have just written, there is quite a potential in the band, they just need to find this subtle thread of originality that would single them out from hundreds and hundreds electro-industrial ensembles. I see a light at the tunnel, In the Wonderland has an engaging, luring atmosphere and Red Blood Running is almost Nine Inch Nails-like, so I can only wait for one more record to change my mind totally in favour of this band.

This is a really good tune.
Guys had been really dilligent apprentices of Nine Inch Nails and Ministry. The guitars are heavy, samples are hypnotic and vocals are aggresive. It is recorded very much garage, which only makes the record better. This tune is 3-minute battery of raw, industrial energy. It has everything at the right place - the beat, the vocals, the guitars. It is definitely recommendable. Check this out. This is a really good tune.

I need to say that this record what quite a surprise to me. Sometimes it’s hard to find a record that sounds really modern at jamendo, and I’m not surprised that major major’s tune has landed up at the top spot of jamendo best hundred records recently. As it sounds, the guys have done their homework well. One may recognize the sound of Muse, The Mars Volta or Franz Ferdinand here. Moreover, the songs are quite neatly composed and very professionally performed. Almost every tune here has a nice ring, and it’s hard to choose once favourite, but if I have to I’ll point up some of the highlights. I loved the first moments of Chinese Drop, sentimentally reminding me of Roxy Music songs, and I pretty much enjoyed the energy of Blind – which reminds me some of The Jets recordings. I have to mention also the end of the record, Undone, a very nice piece with the piano and At The Drive-In like guitar blast.
Taking all under considerations it’s 10, although I’d give 9 and a half, because I miss a wall of sound here a bit. The songs are a bit underproduced, but well... it’s not a professional album, and in times before the web 2.0 if one would hear such demo he would judge it as great.

With industrial songs on garageband you got crap or gem. Thanks God today it's the latter. I loved all the elements of the composition. The electronic side it's very professional, the beat is really phat and well produced. I miss samples a little, but in a long run it wasn't a big drawback. The lyrics are Ministry-like and when the singer shouts It's killing you, he really means it. The guitar riff is sound and heavy the way it should be. What else can I say? Listen to it, don't hesitate!

Silence Is Sexy – This An’t Hollywood

The first thing: This is one of the best produced and musically skillful records on jamendo. No doubt about that.
The second thing: It’s pop. Maybe they play guitars, maybe there’s some reverb or other distortion on their instruments. Perhaps the vocalist sings quite emotionally and empahatic. Nonetheless, it’s pop. Not a good news for me. It may not be particularly good news for other listeners as well.
The third thing: Although it is a mild version of Coldplay and Radiohead records, there is something uncomplete about the compositions. They all start smooth and neatly produced but suddenly, when it gets to chorus it’s just become to be boring. I’m afraid a serious lack of catchy choruses is to be a reason for that. Of course, not all tracks are that way. The best one on the album are Where Were You (with a nice keyboard touch that enriches the whole arrangement) and You Are A Mirror. Overall, however, it’s a little bit disappointing.

Definitely listenable
Can we survive the blast? That's the question the singer asks us. I liked the Armageddon mood of this industrial electro-beat driven tune, I just wanted more kick (a little bit louder and more agressive guitars). Everything seems to be in the right place, even a little bit ridiculous lyrics about some prophecies doesn't spoil the composition, but it should be definitely recorded in more expanded crew (there's no live bass audible for example). Summarizing, good composition, just needs more arrangement.

Josh Woodward – Here Today

It’s a nice and enjoyable record. It sounds much more poppy and smoothen than other Josh’s records, but it’s not a disadvantage, just a surprise. When I’ve heard that it’s the very early set of his recordings I expected the sound to be rough and underproduced but I get the exact opposite. The songs are recorded in fairly good conditions, with a full arrangement, not just a songwriter and his/her guitar. The compositions are nice and melodic, though they do not have this Americana, dark folk atmosphere that one may sometimes find in his later records. Nonetheless I found some tunes may be my favourites for the next few weeks. One of the tracks I dig is Home Improvements, a little bit naive but sincere protest song about changing America into the only-for-the-rich state. The next one is Morning After, a very gentle story about all yesterday’s parties.
The album is really nice and melodic, and paradoxically, it may be it’s biggest flaw. The problem is that American songwriter/folk music went ages from the sounds Woodward presents. Sometimes, the album sounds more as Mr. Big than Palace Brothers or Mount Eerie, so if you look for more alternative approach you maybe disappointed. However, there are gems like Nothing in the Dark that get the LP spinning.
The cover is also a little bit too minimal. It does look like as if it was an album for songs that has just been left aside while recording better ones, which is not wholly true.
Generally it’s eight out of ten. It has its advantages, but there are also drawbacks.

Now, that's the music!
This is one of the tunes that makes me believe in music. The composition is a very eleborate nad sophisticated journey through the rock avantgarde. He can hear a little bit of The Residents in vocals and general atmosphere, a piece of Primus in a rhythm section, Snakefinger and perhaps even Fred Frith in guitars. It's intelligent, intelectual even, very neatly produced and melodic enough to be cherished by people that generally don't dig such kind of music. One can only ask for more.

Carmina - Demo

This is one heavy set of really heavy, brutal music. I loved it.
Although it's only fifteen minutes, Carmina presents us with a quarter
of real non-stop brutal death-metal mayhem, a thing that any fan of this
music genre would love. Most of tracks don't have more than 3 minutes (the last one,
Et ils connaitront la peur is the only exception), but that was a right decision,
because there's no time to get too soft and mild here. My favourite track on the record is Evangelion - a minute and a half clash of growling, engaging riffs and perfect rhythm section.One cannot avoid comparison to Obituary's Chopped In a Half, or some Cryptopsy albums here.
I would love to see guys live and the atmospheric, fin-de-siecle cover is yet
another advantage. It's ten out of ten ladies and gentelmen.

Neko Rei - Wobble Mouse (Unmastered)

Very professional, very neat
It's a nice track. I do recommend it. Now, to details. First of all, I really like the background droning sample reminding me of Didgeridoo Aphex Twin's records. After that we have a really neatly sequenced and professionally produced drumming. It makes one dancing, and this is what's the more important here, I think. I liked also ambient keyborads reminding me Future sound of London, ORb or any of these electronic bands that were really progressive in the 90's. This tune is one nice journey back into days electronica wasn't just a soundtrack but it was a way of perceiving reality. A thing to enjoy.

7 Fool Moons Superbonuspack 2/2

An idea to release a remix album of Seven Moons was a splendid one. I enjoyed most of the tracks on the album, but I paid special attention to Jeff Crystal’s rmx (an extremely neat rebirth of minimal Detroit techno – a hardfloor version I was looking for a long time) of Moon 4 and Fluydo’s remix of their Moon 1 track. That one has such a nice bass line and catchy chorus that any remix of it would be a great tune, but that one is a really interesting extension of the original composition. In summary, sometimes you’re afraid with remixes, that the spirit of the source they come from would vanish, but it doesn’t happen here. It was truly handle with care and remixers’ effort really paid off.
As I put it before, the only shame is the cover. Sinlge covers were very much recognizable, and the current one not so much. One point down, but still it is nine and a truly recommendable piece of music.

Fluydo’s superpack is one of the nicest surprises of this year. The tunes on the first CD have been already presented, but it’s an extremely brilliant idea to gather them in order to understand the whole concept behind the tracks. All of Fluydo’s Moons are quite interesting, but my favourites are Moon 1 (the only one with male vocals – very much similar to Roger Walters’ one), Moon 3 (the one that resembles Goldfrapp the most, but at the same time is the most catchy one on the record), and Moon 7 (a pleasant surprise for the end of the album; extremely engaging trumpet samples and very smooth melody). If you like a clash between Moloko, Goldfrapp and contemporary electro-rock, Fluydo’s record is definitiely for you.
The only shame is the cover. Sinlge covers were very much recognizable, and the current one not so much. One point down, but still it is nine and a truly recommendable piece of music.

Ghost Come Back (San Diego, CA) - Silence

Monumental but nice
This song is a really nice example how not to spoil a seven minute-long composition. I don't really liked the production (well... I compare such stuff with Archive or The Mars Volta so amateurs always lose, but still...) but I did enjoyed a tune as a whole. There's nice emotional touch at the beginning of it and great instrumental rock mayhem at the end. What's more one may ask? It's a recommendable piece,that's for sure. I .loved the melody, lyrics, guitar riffs.

Fauna – Have u ever talked to angels?

I haven’t found a record that doesn’t lack anything on jamendo for a lomg time, so when I found Fauna’s - Have u ever talked to angels I was more than happy. This subtle dark-trip hop album is what a Creative Commons connoiseur may really appreciate. Almost every piece there is worthy listener’s attention, so let’s talk about each of them.
Slowly – very engaging, atmospheric piece with great vocals and extremely interesting rhythm section. The words are quite gloomy, but that’s why it’s called trip-hop and not pop.
14th floor – one may see Portishead’s influence here, but it’s got such an intense mood that one may not take it as a vice, but an advantage.
Daily sick, casual sick – great samples, a deep-dark mood, exactly the way it should be.
Dreamless – it gets more melodic there, but more in Mo’Wax or Warp style than Aguillera one. Add very professional use of reverbs in production and one may imagine what’s the piece like.
Emptiness – the composition has nice vocal samples and space-like atmosphere (some Kid Koala influence, perhaps?) and it’s a little bit ambiental but still it doesn’t lose this specific Fauna touch.
Hollow morning – that one is a real masterpiece. Natalia Careva (a featuring vocalist here) takes us into a dreamy, sentimental trance trip one won’t forget soon.
Wasteland – the tune clashes between 20’s samples and Portishead-like mood. Yummy.
Hyperlite love – I think the most electronic one on the record. Solid, however a little bit uninventive compared with the rest of the record.
Rainbawl – next electronic one. A tune that very neatly mixes female voice with almost Kraftwerk–like sounds.
Tomorrow – a nice, melancholic goodbye, reminding me a little bit of Tryad’s tunes.

It’s ten out of ten, ladies and gentelmen. I can’t wait to hear their next album, really.

The first thing that comes to your mind when you listen to it is very underground production. It sounds as it was recorded in a garage on a tape recorder. vocals are more hard-rock than indie, and guitars and mood generally folk-rock and not indie. As for violin... Was there any? Generally, though the composition is interesting one it needs to be rearranged and recorded once more.

Flatmax - Wideband Cold Fusion

I must say that I enjoyed his record much more than the previous The underground isn't finished with me. At Wideband Cold Fusion, the artist presents a mix of dark hip-hop and electronica, and though it’s not a perfect album there are moments that one may find interesting. The best tunes, in my humble opinion, are Android War and Central Transmission. The first is a nice journey in Dr Doom-style, while the second it’s very experimental and may not be appreciated by people that look for more chilled out compositions. Flatmax is generally disturbing and one has to deal with that ;-) Of course, there are moments that are simply boring or too much formal in its experiment for example, Fresh Region or Dyly Zone, the things that shouldn’t be called pieces, more an experiment documentation. I think if Flatmax tried to do some singles first, and than hit for a full LP that would have been better because people would have had time to get used to his quite difficult, perhaps even annoying style. It’s seven or now, but I look forward to other recordings, as it may be an interesting thing with time.

Professional and intelligent music
I must say that the piece hit me in the right place. It's gentle but with this neurotic twist that makes rock indie and notBon-Jovi. Lead vocals are very in a genre type. Lazy, sharp but melodic and gentle at the same time. Production is very professional with all the sound details audible. If you like postrock-indie (for example Arab Strap or Broken Social Scene) not easy but rewarding kind of music this is a place to be!

It’s a solid piece of electronica, though it didn’t shake my view of the music scene. I quite enjoyed ambiental Eclipse, very melodic Juno Back and Aphex Twin-like Transient. My favourite track however is Feeling In space. In spite of a little bit pompatic title this is a really nice piece of ambient stuff very much similar to a Warp Records productions. Next, Into the Sea is quite similar and creates a nice musical trilogy with Swoosh, a composition that ends the whole album. Although there’s no thing I haven’t heard before on Eclipse it’s still recommendable as the production is quite professional.

Too cliche
The biggest problem with that band is that they cannot decide whethwer they want to be Nirvana or Aerosmith. I liked the riff and the Cobain-like (although a little bit too smooth) vocal. The problem is that chorus is melodic is the sense hunderd other bands have it, that means one forgets about it after onel istenning. If the band would work on being a little bit more original that it would work, because both production and performance are really professional.
